Bento?

I am not a good bento builder. I do not have the equipment (can you tell I’ve been watching a lot of Shokugeki no Soma lately? That bento episode provided a lot of “food for thought” HAR HAR HAR).

But we had a lot of leftover veggies from the garden and extra tikka masala and, damn it, we’re too poor to buy food on the road. So I tried to make the most luxurious bento I could, to disguise the fact that we can barely afford to feed ourselves (by the way, never take a job that pays seasonally).

From top: Short-grain rice and tikka masala sauce, garden cukes and baby carrots, avocado curry coleslaw. The avocado was a little less than ripe, so excuse the baby poop appearance.

I’m now realizing that I could have made an onigirazu (nori wrapped onigiri) with the tikka and rice, thus allowing the elements to be chilled or warmed separately (I like my onigiri just a touch warm). SOMA, WHY DID I NOT HEED YOUR ADVICE??
